Congrats to Northshore Women on their fantastic National Championship win.

It has been along time since CARFU had a XVs National Champion.

Their championship is one built on hard work, dedication and self belief.

A regular season that at times looked bleek, a pivot game of a so called up set of Austin ( maybe mistaken on that) started the build up. Further challenges to their qualification as a third seed to nationals were dismissed with a victory over the #1 seed and then a down to the wire victory over Nova.

Finally a championship match up against Glendale. All of the pundits said it was a forgone conclusion, based on their early season league game Glendale would be champions!

Someone forgot to tell Northshore, and a historical victory was theirs.

This was truly an inspirational national championship run. Thank you Northshore.

ILLINOIS YOUTH RUGBY WINTER MEETING

The Illinois Youth Rugby Association will hold their Winter Meeting on Saturday January 14, 2012 starting at 9am.  The meeting will be held in AthletiCo's Training Facility at 709 Enterprise Drive, Oak Brook, Illinois 60523. The site has been set for the Midwest Territory Annual General Meeting on 1/27/2012 & 1/28/2012

All meetings will be held in the Holiday Inn - Willowbrook, IL located at 7800 Kingery Hwy, Willowbrook, IL 60527.

The Senior and College Competition Meetings will be held on Friday evening, 1/27.

Note that Tom Rooney is unavailable for the meetings. There will be a conference call, for the college reps on a date to be determined, prior to the AGM. If a follow-up meeting is necessary, for the college reps, Jeremiah Johnson will chair a college meeting on 1/27

The General Session will be held all day on 1/28.

There is no obligation for individual clubs to attend, but all are welcome if so deisred.

Single and double rooms are being held for 1/27 & 1/28, for $89.00/night, under Midwest Rugby Football Union. Our contact is Debbie Gallo. The cutoff date for the room reservations is 1/6/2012.

The 2012 Annual General Meeting(AGM) will be held on February 4^th from 11:00am until 1:00pm. College representatives must attend the special college session at 10:00am. Coaches and school administrators are encouraged to attend this session. This will be held at the Irish American Heritage Center, which is the same location of the past few years. All teams are required to send a representative.
